Massage

Massages are renowned for being the ultimate relaxation; however they can do a lot more for my mental and physical well being than you might realise. If you have a sports injury, or are suffering from backache, a massage can assist in alleviating the pain, by relaxing and stretching the muscles. Massages have proven to soothe even chronic aches and pains in various parts of the body including the back and feet.

Not only that but massages have been found to encourage the circulation of blood around the body, which helps to keep the body - and it’s biggest organ, the skin - healthy, whilst completely relaxing tendons helping to release trapped nerves. Research also suggests that massaging limbs that have come under a great deal of strain that has resulted in torn ligaments can help to speed up the healing process.

Some people have been known to have quite profound reactions to massages, including feelings of happiness. This might sound weird, but it’s actually not surprising, because massages release a natural chemical called “Endorphins”, which act as a happy hormone. This makes massages the best solution to relieving tensions in the body and mind, caused by the stress of work and daily life. As a result, many find that a massage helps them to get a better night’s sleep.

So let Lowena wipe away your troubles at her St. Ives Salon, with one of three treatments:

A Full Body Massage lasts for roughly one hour, and as the title suggests, involves the entire body being massaged individually. However, there’s no need to panic - you will only need to undress as far as you are comfortable with, and you will be completely on your own whilst you become comfortable with the environment.

This type of massage helps to iron-out all the stress, tension and trauma that you might be feeling right across your body, especially across the shoulder blades and back area. The Full Body Massage will generally include the following areas of your body:

  • Neck
  • Shoulders
  • Back
  • Arms
  • Hands
  • Legs
  • Feet

 Cost: $89

Back Massages focus - as you can probably guess - on the back, and last only 30 minutes, so they are ideal for anyone who doesn’t have a lot of time to spare but is looking for a quick way to relax and get rid of any tensions and problems in the back. This could include tension caused by stress, health problems or sport-related injuries. Nevertheless, you don’t have to be stressed or in pain to enjoy a back massage, indeed many people find them a good way of just relaxing the mind for a short time.

Cost: $48

Foot Massages focus on your feet, and are ideal for anyone who is constantly on the go, meaning that the feet - especially around the balls - are put under a lot of pressure. Taking only 30 minutes of your time, foot massages are ideal for anyone who is short on time, and are the ideal massage for slotting into busy lifestyles.
